A ride on the Miljoenenlijn is always beautiful, but a ride on the Summer Evening Express provides truly stunning views! And you can join! On various Wednesdays in July and August and a Saturday in August, the Summer Evening Express travels through the South Limburg Hill Country. The evening ride guarantees perhaps the most special sunset you have ever seen. So you can imagine how romantic that is!
he Summer Evening Express will run in 2026 on:

The old steam train leaves Simpelveld at 19.15 hours on the above mentioned days in the direction of Kerkrade. After a short stop there, the train returns to Schin op Geul, the other side of this highest railway line in the Netherlands.
At 21.15 hours, after sunset, you will arrive back in Simpelveld.
Please be at Simpelveld Station at least half an hour before departure. This way you can find a seat on the plush benches in our 1st class carriages in time.
