I bet you’ve never seen the summer sun setting behind the South Limburg hills from a steam train. But you can probably imagine how romantic that would be! And now it is possible to see it with your own eyes: on Saturdays and some Wednesdays in August, the Summer Night Express travels from Simpelveld Station through the Heuvelland region and you can come along!
The Summer Evening Express runs on:
- Wednesday 3 August
- Saturday 6 August
- Wednesday 10 August
- Saturday 13 August
- Saturday 20 August
- Saturday 27 August
The over 100 years old steam train leaves Simpelveld at 19.00 hours on the above mentioned days in the direction of Kerkrade. After a short stop there, the train returns to Schin op Geul, the other side of this highest railway line in the Netherlands.
At 21.00 hours, after sunset, you will arrive back in Simpelveld.
Please be at Simpelveld Station at least half an hour before departure.
