The biggest train festival in Limburg is back!
The friendly family event for everyone interested in culture, steam, technology, and trains.
During the Stoomtreindagen, take a unique behind-the-scenes look at the Miljoenenlijn and ride one of the many trains along our heritage railway line.

Heritage in Motion

Museum Station Simpelveld stretches over approximately 800 meters and includes not only the large station building, but also the Miljoenenlijn Depot with its steam locomotive workshop, turntable, and the classic train signalling system with its iconic signal boxes.
During the Stoomtreindagen, you’ll get an up-close look at our unique collection of historical railway equipment, the (operation of the) traditional signalling system, and the stunning natural surroundings along the 29-kilometer railway line.
Our volunteers won’t just show it to you – they’ll let you experience it!

Locomotives in Action

During the Stoomtreindagen, in addition to our well-known steam locomotives Bonne and the Swedish E2 1040, a variety of other locomotives and trains will be on display.
For example, we’ll reveal our plans for steam locomotive 1289 from 1912.

A highlight of the Stoomtreindagen is steam locomotive 52 532, which will be seen in steam for the first time after an extensive overhaul that took nearly 10 years.
More about this major project can be found in the blogs via this link.

But of course, there’s more than just steam.

Step aboard the luxurious Pullman carriage and listen to the fascinating stories told by our volunteers.

And naturally, the German-built VT98 railbus will also be part of the timetable, while various shunting locomotives will be operating in the yard.
Would you like to experience what it’s like to be a train driver? Then ride in the cab of diesel locomotive Sik!
